Bed linen by Beaumont & Brown

Beaumont & Brown

Beaumont & Brown’s story began in 2005 when Robin Beaumont and Norman Brown started supplying luxury hotels worldwide with bed linen, bath towels and robes. With a strong background in textiles, they started creating a product that could exceed the expectations of the world’s strictest housekeepers and withstand the brutal environment of a commercial laundry. Alongside supplying five-star hotels, the pair started getting requests from guests, asking where they could purchase the same sheets for their own beds. The retail part of the business was then effectively born.

The company now supplies over 300 hotels worldwide, including the Hyatt and Grand Hyatt, Kempinski, Fairmont and Swissôtel brands. In the UK, it supplies Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, The Pig hotels and Champneys spa resorts, as well as local boutique hotels, guest houses and holiday accommodation. The company has been operating from its Totnes shop for the past five years.

“The focus has, and always will be, to select the right cotton yarns, and to perfect the weaving, finishing, stitch count, design and presentation of the final product,” explains Robin, adding: “We aim to create the perfect balance between luxury and durability and have been using the same factory since day one. This was important as it has allowed us to develop together and have active control over the quality of each item we make.”

All the bed linen is a 400 thread count cotton, which Robin believes is optimal, not only for longevity but also for softness. The same can be said for the 650gsm towels. The colours range from pure white to latte, and slate greys to aqua blues, with some including delicately embroidered borders. The ranges do not often change, so you can easily buy replacements or extras.

The online store offers duvets and pillows, which are made in the UK, and filled with sustainably-sourced down and feather.

Living in the Totnes area for six years, Robin and his family have fallen in love with all that Devon has to offer. “Having the shop in such a wonderful town, with a wide range of independent and unique shops, is really special,” he says. “It allows us to interact with our customers, many of whom are regulars.”

The shop is managed by Arabella Lloyd. With her keen eye for design, all the one-off items – such as throws and cushions – have been chosen by her to complement the brand’s linen ranges.

For a limited time, Beaumont & Brown is offering an exclusive 25% discount to Devon Home readers. When ordering online, please use the code: devonhome25. This offer expires 31 August 2020 and is not available to use with any other offer.
