The Old Smithy scores highly in the traditional country cottage stakes, and is also kitted out for modern living with the latest fixtures and fittings

A stay in this welcoming Grade II Listed cottage in Dartington makes a peaceful and idyllic retreat. It’s within easy walking distance of a pub and a bakery, and Totnes town is 1.5 miles away.
The interior is a chic blend of vintage furniture and modern luxuries – low ceilings and other traditional features are integral to its 250-year-old charm.
The cosy sitting room with its sturdy, traditional wood burner and inglenook fireplace couldn’t be more English country cottage. Yet, the Sonos sound system and smart TV bring it up to date.
The well-equipped kitchen is a great space to prepare meals. The dining room adds a lovely ambience to a dinner party with its dark walls and flagstone floor.
The cottage can sleep up to six guests. There are three bedrooms upstairs – one king and two doubles – all with a different design. The bathrooms are playfully decorated in bold floral wallpaper.
